Histamine is synthesized from histidine an amino acid by histidine decarboxylase (HDC, 142704). While most of the Histamine is degraded by histamine N-methyltransferase (HNMT, 605238) in the central nervous system, the rest of the body metabolizes histamine with an enzyme nicknamed DAO that is called scientifically amiloride-binding protein 1 (ABP1, 104610).
