Psychological Repression

Psychological repression is a psychopathological condition characterized described by psychoanalysis. The concept holds that the subconscious suppression of (sexual) desires and unpleasant memories causes psychological conditions.

Beside those pathological conditions repression like conditions are common in everyday social behavior. To that discern normal social behavior from pathological individual behavior, I created a new term denkhemmung.
