Biotope

Biotope is an ecological term that describes a unique environmental area where a specific assembly of plants and animals can be found. In English the term biotop is used almost synonymously with habitat. There are differences, however. As habitat originally had been used for the environment of a single species (autoecological habitat), biotope is rather the kind of synecological habitat.
