Reproductive Isolation

Reproductive isolation is a term from classical evolutionary theory that describes groups of organisms within a population that show group specific mating preferences, so so individuals more likely find a mating partner within their own group. Consequently, the groups develop different sets of alleles, which is considered a prerequisite of speciation.
